满月 – the full moon, or one-month celebration – is one of the most widely observed milestones for Chinese families in Singapore, marking the end of confinement and baby’s first month in the world. It’s traditionally celebrated with ang pow, red eggs, ginger, and a gathering of family, and increasingly, with a set of newborn photos to go alongside it.

Is one-month too late for newborn photography?

It’s a little past the classic newborn photography window (days 5 to 14, when babies sleep deepest and curl most naturally), but it’s far from too late. At around 4 weeks, babies are more alert and expressive – you’ll get more awake, engaged shots and fewer deeply-asleep curled poses. Different look, still beautiful, and it lines up naturally with the 满月 milestone itself.

Can we photograph the actual 满月 celebration, or is this a separate session?

Most families treat it as a separate, calmer session before or around the celebration day itself – a proper studio session with baby (and often the family) rather than candid coverage of the party. If you’d like us to also capture moments from the celebration itself, mention it when booking and we can talk through what’s realistic within the session.

Should we include red eggs, ginger, or other 满月 items in the photos?

Yes, if they’re meaningful to your family – bring them along. Red eggs, a red outfit, or any item connected to the celebration can be worked into a few frames without taking over the whole session. Let us know beforehand so we can plan the setup around it.

Can grandparents and extended family join?

Absolutely, and many families do exactly this for 满月 – it’s often the first time grandparents see baby dressed for the occasion. There’s no extra charge for additional family members joining a portion of the session; just let us know roughly how many so we can pace things properly.

What should baby wear?

Traditional red is the classic choice for 满月 and photographs beautifully – if you have a family piece or a new outfit for the occasion, bring it. Simple, comfortable pieces without complicated fastenings work best for a one-month-old. We’re also happy to work with a mix of traditional and everyday outfits across the session.

How much does it cost, and how do we book?

A newborn session is SGD 650, with every edited image included and gallery delivery within 2 weeks. Since 满月 falls around a specific date, we’d recommend booking 2 to 3 weeks ahead to secure the date you need.
