A Milestone to Remember: Nagi’s First Birthday

Celebrating a first birthday is a huge milestone for any child. It marks the transition from infant to toddler, a moment when parents get to see how far their little one has come in just one year. This was certainly the case for Nagi and her parents.

As they entered our photography studio, Nagi’s parents knew they wanted to capture this special moment in time—creating beautiful keepsakes they could look back on as Nagi grows older. These portraits had to not only showcase Nagi’s physical beauty but also reflect her vibrant personality. For us, it was about something more—capturing the deep love her parents have for her.

Patience and Play: The Key to Amazing Photos

Working with children—especially young ones who may not fully understand the process—can be a challenge for both parents and photographers. While we all aim for those perfect smiles, it’s just as important to capture their true, raw expressions. During a session, children need patience and encouragement, which we were happy to provide to Nagi. From her beautiful smile, to the joy on her parents’ faces, the cake smashing chaos, and even the bath-time tears, we were able to capture every side of Nagi’s personality.

In one photo session, we were able to capture in time the joy that Nagi brings to her parents’ lives. You can see the pride they have for her as well as how much she loves them in return. Her parents were delighted to have their picture taken, showing off their big, happy smiles, making Nagi herself more at ease while encouraging her to smile in the pictures as well. In this part of the session, we were able to capture the true joy that Nagi is as a child.

What better way to celebrate a birthday than with a cake? When Nagi first saw the cake, she wasn’t sure what to do with it. She tentatively touched the ombre frosting, feeling the texture and stickiness, unsure whether it was meant to be played with or eaten. Once she realized it was both, there was no stopping her! Nagi dug right in, savoring the sweet frosting, and even turned her cake into art, happily spreading frosting all over her birthday dress and face.

Cake Smash Fun and Bath-Time Fuss

After the cake fun, it was time for a bath to clean up, and that’s when Nagi’s mood took a turn. She wasn’t thrilled about washing off all that frosting she had so lovingly smeared everywhere. Even the rubber ducky couldn’t cheer her up! But, like the trooper she is, Nagi composed herself for one final, stoic shot that captured her beautiful face, despite the bath-time fuss.
